Athletic Training Internships
Any student currently enrolled in an accredited athletic training curriculum program may apply for an internship. We offer internships as short as one month and long as one semester. Interns have the opportunity to work in several different aspects of sports medicine, including outpatient physical therapy, orthopedic surgery and outreach settings. Requirements include certain clinical competencies and a project presentation.- Professional Sports (Indianapolis Ice, Indiana Fever, Indiana Invaders – track club)
- Surgery/Physician Office Observation
- Special Events/Out-Reach
- Sports Medicine Administration
- PPE’s
- Scholastic Athletic Training

Strength & Conditioning internships
Students who are pursing a degree in exercise science, kinesiology, biomechanics or related field who are interested in obtaining certification as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) may apply. Students will learn about the concept of Sport Specific Functional Training, and aid in not only the training of competitive and recreational athletes, but also in administration/marketing aspects of this business.
The strength and conditioning internship program for St.Vincent Sports performance is an opportunity for students to apply their education through hands-on training, as well as learn new skills to prepare them for a career in strength and conditioning. Learning opportunities include:
- Dynamic Warm Up
- Core-Glute Activation
- Speed Development: Linear acceleration, Lateral acceleration, Change of Direction, and Top Speed
- Olympic Lifting
- Program Design
- Energy System Development
- Resistance Training
- Functional Training
- Functional Movement Screening
- Sport specific training
- NFL Combine Training
- Motor Sports Training (Indy car pit crew and driver training, midget car, and BMW Series)
- NBA Readiness Training
Responsibilities of students include assisting staff train private clients, speed and strength & power classes, upkeep of equipment, and perform various assignments assigned by the Internship Site Coordinator.
Qualifications and skills required:
- US Citizenship
- Of junior or senior status
- Current student studying the field of exercise science and/or other related fields
- CPR/First Aid Certification is preferred
- Effective leader with strong people skills
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to work with others and thrive in group settings
